New Badger Partnership Records Request

You will find attached two PDF documents. The first, Introduction and Emails and Agendas, is an introduction to the records request I made as well as pertinent emails, and meeting agendas. I have highlighted some interesting things. Of course I have not read through it all yet. The second, Strategy Documents, is the strategy documents given to ASM back in early December flushed out.

First off, this took over a month to get to me. It should have taken a week tops. They were clearly stalling. Second of all, these documents should have been released to ASM when requested back in December. Read them for yourself.

Here is a taste of one of the emails in the records request sent by Tom Templeton (ASM Chief of Staff) to Chancellor Martin.

“Attached is a piece of legislation that ASM will be taking up at our meeting tomorrow. My fear is that there is a push to rush into a decision anti Badger Partnership. Although this legislation does not support or condemn BP, I know for a fact from my workings with ASM and the current council that if this legislation passes tomorrow ASM will never pass a resolution in favor of BP. When Chair Williams, VC Johnson, and I met with Chancellor Martin a few weeks back she promised us she would forward many of the documents and other details she had in regards to BP. She said she would share them with us with the understanding we would keep them secret and not make them public. This is a promise we are still willing to hold but having the documents will allow us more leverage with the opposition within ASM. Please let me know what you can do.”

Wow. So, we have the leadership of ASM literally collaborating with the administration to keep documents secret in an effort to thwart opposition from the student body.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the BP, this is totally unacceptable behavior and, frankly, perfectly encapsulates the problems of corruption and cronyism that exist within our student government. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some letters of recommendation born out of this subservience.

“I want either less corruption or more opportunity to participate in it”

Max, you attention sucking bitch. Such an activist, such a bleeding heart. Commendable efforts, too bad you’re all in it for yourself.

    Wow.

I hate it when people say “you’re in this for yourself” like it’s a bad thing.

    • I am in it for myself, lol I think it’s quite laughable. I see it as a benefit for me if this world becomes at least somewhat of a better place, and if it means me submitting an open records request to at least get a little more information on a privatization plan then YES I am in it for myself.
